Gerber Recalls Organic Baby Food
I do not dare to say “what will be next”. As that seems to be always occurring these days. Just when you thought it was safe to purchase food again. Home Made Baby Food
When my daughter was born I went as all natural as possible. Which to me included making my own baby food. I know that most people use a food mill or a strainer but I simply used my blender. I would steam the fruits and veggies or bake them. Let them cool and then put it in the blender. I poured it into ice cube trays until firm, after which I transfered them to freezer storage containers. Label them well of course or you won't know which is applesauce and which are pears. Doing a web search for baby food recipes should reveal many recipes or create your own version of "blue berry buckle". I am not saying there is anything wrong with Gerber but its so much nicer to know that you made all your child's food. Honestly its quick and easy. If you grow all your own food and know that its organic thats even better. Do you make your own baby food? Or do you think you might try it?ates, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.Gerber advises consumers who have Gerber Organic Rice or Gerber Organic Oatmeal cereal not to use those products. Baby food - bought or home made?
Since I'm a first time mother I'm new to the world of baby food. Since my son began eating food the doctor said he should begin with cereal and fruits. We have since progressed to vegetables also. I want to do what's best for him and give him the best possible start in this world. I try to buy only organic baby food. But now I'm thinking maybe I should be making his food from real foods like we eat - not processed foods which he may be getting from the jars. So...what do you do? What did you do? Did you buy food from the supermarket or make your own at home? Did your child eat whatever you served or objected? ates, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.Gerber advises consumers who have Gerber Organic Rice or Gerber Organic Oatmeal cereal not to use those products. Consumers should call the Gerber Parents Resource Center at (800) 443-7237 or (231) 928-3000 to return the product and receive a full refund.Gerber Organic Rice Cereal and Gerber Organic Oatmeal Cereal are sold in 8-ounce boxes.Gerber is recalling all packages and all codes of those two cereals. am i the only "green" and organic parent out there??
I am constantly being teased because we use more natural and organic products and foods than not. I use seventh generation diapers, which are chlorine free and more natural than the other brands. I only use organic baby food. When buying food....I buy all natural, no hormone added meat only, some organic veggies and fruits, and some other organic foods and products such as pasta, tomato sauce, canned veggies, ketchup, cheese, milk, juice, baby wipes, cleaning products, just to name a few. I use natural hair dye and natural, chemical free body wash and shampoos. Also the kids products like shampoo and toothpaste are chemcial free and natural. I wont shampoo my carpets unless I use all natural carpet shampoo. I am sick of everyone acting as if I am doing something so out of the ordinary. I think I am doing what is best for me and my kids. So why does everyone tease and mock me? Anyone else out there that can relate to me? I hope I am not alone. We all need to save the earth in little ways and make sure that our kids are the healthiest they can be!!
Another reason to make your own baby food, recall
I just saw a news report about organic baby food that is possibly contaminated with botulism. There is a big recall. I always feed my baby whatever we are having. But I do keep jars on hand in case he is going to be at my moms or sisters or something. I have been scrambling all day to find out the brand and kind. They have been giving "teasers" all day. The brand is Earths Best Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast for those of you who are interested. No major discussion, just information.
Need some baby gift advice
My friend just had a baby, and she's very picky about things she uses and buys for her baby. (I say picky, which is nice talk for insanely obsessive.) She registered for her baby at a very exclusive and expensive baby boutique that only carries all natural and organic baby stuff. I was DREADING shopping there, but when I stopped by, it was closed for the day. So I went over to the Whole Foods and picked her up a package of Seventh Generation diapers, some organic baby wash, and an organic cotton baby blanket. Now, I'm thinking I should take them back and get what she registed for. She's going to try cloth diapers, which I admire her for, and I feel as though my disposable diapers will offend her. (She'll see it as a comment on her commitment to use the cloth.) I would just buy her cloth diapers, but she's using this system that is only sold online and at these specialty boutiques. If she doesn't like anything, she will return it. But that would hurt my feelings a little bit, because I took the time and effort to buy nice gifts for her baby. I know she wants things just so, and I don't knwo what to do. The last thing I want is to try and catch this stupid boutique open....
