Related Topics| Do you use this booster seat? | | I tried to google a picture so you could get a look at the style I am talking about but could not find one. I'm actually quite glad, that may mean there are so few of them left. Anyway, the one I am speaking of is the no back booster seat with a swinging arm that goes in front of the child and the seat belt fits around this "arm."The reason I am asking if anyone is using it is if you are, I am begging you to QUIT USING IT!A friend of mine and her 3 daughters were in a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE accident. It has been 3 years ago, but still very fresh in our minds because of the devastation it caused. My friend lost her life. Her daughters were all injured, the youngest, 4 years old at the time, was in one of these boosters. She is paralyzed now. Her back snapped where the arm held her in. Child safety seats are a must, but this one, although yes, it did save her life, also took some of her life from her. Please if you are using an armed seat, replace it! | |
| | Booster seat laws, do you agree? | | I know here where I live we have a law where the child has to be in the booster seat until the age of 8 or 80lbs. I remember being five years old and sitting in the regular seat and buckling up. I mean, anything is great to keep the kid safe..but how do you feel about the child being in the booster until the age 8?her life from her. Please if you are using an armed seat, replace it! | |

Gissi is not happy as he hates the Car
I have to admit I am a bit concerned because there is different Weather all the way home lol
But well I will take the drive in my Stride lol have Gissi sneeze on my arm all the way Home and telling him to just lie down (no chance of that lol) freeze when I open the Window for him, stop of to have a Break freeze while Gissi checks out the Area lol then carry him back in the car or he will not get in
So everyone I shall let you all know when I arrive Home

| | not using a carseat? | | ok, heres the deal. i have a coworker, whose son is 4 (i think). she does not use a car seat. she has one, and says she just bought him a booster seat, but she doesn't use it. "he screams, he doesn't want to sit in it". i called her on it the one day. and then one day since then i noticed he was in the seat and she said "its only cuz he was sleeping, i won't tell you where i had him this morning" ..... yeah thats right all, you guessed it. in the front seat. i wish she would listen and put him in the damn seat. she also stated no one else in the family uses the seat either. she's the mother put her damn foot down before something happens that she can't change.
i've talked to the state police in pa, all they told me was that she would get a citation, and if there is proof of a carseat, or a reciept that she bought one before it goes to court, it will be thrown out. the only time she will get in trouble is if she gets into an accident and the child is hurt than she would be charged accordingly.
sucks doesn't it. i wish there was something we could do before something drastic happens to that poor little boy.

| | Kids need booster seats in car until 4 ft 9 inches | | I've noticed a public service message which states that even though kids have outgrown child safety seats, they are still too small for adult sized seat belts when riding in the car. It says that untilthey reach a height of four feet nine inches, they need a booster seat. It got me to thinking, what if they never reach four foot nine? Does this mean they have to have a booster seat when they are riding with their dates to prom in the limo? What about adults who are not this tall?What if they make a booster seat law like the seatbelt and helmet laws? | |
| | I honestly did not know this, did you? | | Ok my 8 yr old son, had his yearly physical today. He is 4 feet 2 inches tall, and weighs 70 pounds. He is a strapping young boy, right. Now to put this in perspective, I am 5 feet tall. The pediatrician informed me, that the National Pediatric Association, or whatever they are called, are recommending, and pushing for lawmakers to change the laws so that all children must sit in a booster seat until they are 4 feet 9 inches tall. I didnt mean to, but I laughed at her when she said it. My youngest child is dainty and petit, she will be sitting in one until she is 21. She said it isnt a law yet, but they are now recommending it. I was just stunned. I mean how many 8 yr old children, or older are going to want to sit in a booster seat. | |
| | Booster Seats for kids up to 8 yrs old...it's the law | | In many (U.S.) states it is the law that kids up to age 8 are in a booster seat. I did not know this. I stumbled across a website talking abut a new law in MI that apparently goes into effect on July 1st. http://www.michigansafekids.org/newlaw.php And I wondered if there were other states that had similar laws...there are! http://www.saferoads.org/issues/BoosterSeatLawChart.pdf (This site is a touch outdated it seems, so some more states- like MI I guess- may have new laws that aren't listed). I had no idea. I mean, I have seen the commercials and I know it's a good suggestion- but that is all I thought it was. A suggestion. Well, not according to the chart it isn't a mere suggestion. Hmmm...I guess I will be pulling the boosters back out for a while. So, if you have kids in the below 8 age range...did you know that this was the law (if according to the chart it is in your state?) | | car seat help | | i've heard someone saying on here before about a new car seat in the states for kids up to 80 pounds. there was a specific brand name that made the 3 point harness for the older kid booster seats. does anyone know the name of it i'm trying to find one. and does anyone know if it's available in canada. i know who ever had originally posted it said they got it at target but we don't have that in canada) Or are you surprised to hear this, too? | |
| | Carseats | | When is a child old enough to sit in the car without a car seat? or a booster seat? I know they can't sit in the front seat until age 12 but not sure about the carseat thing. And when do you change them from a car seat to a booster seat? Whats the difference really? Can't you just use your car seat until they are old enought to sit on the regular seat? | |
