| | Shopping for a New Jacket for a 4 Year Old | | My husband and I took the 4 year old out to shop for a winter jacket yesterday. We tried to tell her that it was her jacket and she needed to pick out something that she likes. After 30 minutes of her fighting and liking anything we picked up, she finally picked out a jacket for herself.It was black with a fur hood. Had zippers up the front and pockets on the sleeves and silver kitty embordered on the front. Oh and it had a belt which was very important to her. We look at the price and it was $125 MSRP on sale for $79.My husband and I tossed around the idea of getting her the jacket anyways she did pick it out on her own, but then she turned around (see picture, noting hers was black not red). My husband told her she had to put the jacket back.Two questions, would you have bought the jacket if it was your child and what does Baby Phat mean? | |

| do you look over a cute sweater on the rack just because it isn't name brand? | | I know I worked at a retail store and it grew to be a little disgusting at some of the people who would just look at the name brand clothes and if it was not. they stuck their nose up at it. I know society today has affected young teens majorly because they wouldn't be caught in nothing but name brand shoes, nike, rocawear, baby phat, etc. These brands cost sometimes 3x more than a regular shirt or pair of pants would just because of the name brand or logo. Why is it necessary to buy something just because it is a certain brand. Why not just look at something because it is a nice shirt and the price is right. When did americans lose our sense of individuality. I know I have only a handful of name brand merchandise and choose to go more for comfort, quality, and price. How about you? | |
| | Struggling with Materialism. | | I have a hard time struggling with materialism. I get it in my head that I want something that I can not really afford and I just can't let it go. I normally spend most of my time in a warmer climate and this year because of fate I am spending my winter in snowy blizzardy weather. So I need to buy a pair of boots. A pair of boots I will only wear for one season. What boots do I want? A $150 pair of boots from Baby Phat. They are so great. I really want them. I am obsessed with them. I think about what it will feel like when they arrive at my door. How happy I will be to try them on. How great it will be to wear them out for the first time...In a practical world I know I should just go to Walmart and pick up a $30 pair of boots that will get me through the winter. Somehow that thought depresses me just a little more than it should.I wish I didn't feel this way but I do. Thrift Store is the new department store! | | I remember being in high school and going to the thrift store with my mom and being embarassed but now that i live in Georgia the thrift store is like Macy's they have this day called "half off day" its the last wed of every month everything in the store is 1/2 price (clothes only) and the parking lot is packed every single time it must have been this ladies first time she asked me where is the dressing room! lol i almost fell out laughing like lady we are not in a the MALL! I find everything from hollister, old navy, baby phat, gap, i mean if you look hard enough you can almost find any brand you like! I have even got BEBE shoes in great condition they are some of my favorites. Where else are you going to get BEBE shoes for $3.99!!! I get a whole outfit for under $5 thats insane! I really am addicted and the money i save is probably in the thousands. A trick i do is iron or use my steam iron on all the clothing and hang them up and nobody even knows i go to thrift store, Im a little selfish its my little dirty secret(hahaha) | |
