| Baby Einstein Videos... | | I just read an article on Yahoo that says that the American Academy of Pediatrics says that children under 2 should not watch tv for long amounts of time. Disney has been threatened with a class action lawsuit for "deceptive advertising" regarding its baby einstein videos. While Disney has claimed these videos make children smarter, studies have shown prolonged tv exposure in early years leads to decreased attention spans when children get older. My child is only 3 weeks old, but I planned on letting him watch baby einstein when he got older. Now my mind has changed. Has anyone let their children watch the videos? Do you think it has negatively affected your child? Is anyone's child currently watching those videos, and do you plan on stopping? Just wondering what everyone out there is thinking?? | |

I am French myself but living in the United States and his father being American, I am actually the only contact he has with French
I found those Bee Smart Baby videos (rented) and while it did seem to be liked by my son what I really didn't like wAS the fact that the voice saying the French words was NOT a French native, so she has an accent .. I do think it's a pity and they could have hired anative for that
I am still looking for other types of videos where they would actually be a French person pronouncing the words
Any suggestion appreciated ...Now I know that there is a debate about those videos and while I am fully aware of it, my son isn ot 3 months old anymore and he is not glued to TV all day long
SO what do you think of those videos? Have you personnally tried them?

| Baby EiNsteiN bad | | I love baby einstein products from their tapes to their toys i find them to be very educational and full of fun, on the news i heard that the dvd´s may not be as effcient as we thought, most mothers use tv or dvd´s time as a chance to get things done in the house as their children are entertained, in reality they baby einstein representative said these dvd´s were presented as only being a benefit if the mother sat down with them and verbaly and physcially participated since infants are more eager to learn when everything is being dictated as it is played. Do you believe this or have you done what most mothers do leave the room and they learned just the same, please share your views and what you did or do | |

When my son was little, these tape were just coming out so I did not get to use them. He watched Sesame Street, Blues Clues, etc. and we always provided him with a learning environment. My brother made my nephew live eat and breathe those tapes when he was little. To me, he does not know anymore than any other child his age who did not use the tapes.What do you think, do Baby Einstein DVDs work? | |

I think it is inappropriate to teach such young children concepts such as letters, shapes, numbers and colors, and I think that videos are a very ineffective way of teaching these concepts, for children of any age.What do you think, and why? | |

They are great, they actually keep her interested. She usually isn't into television. She is only 22 months. It's great. and now I can brag that she know sign language. | |
