Child Drinking Milk From A Baby Bottle....At Almost 5 Years Old
Hi everyone,I was visiting my sister at the hospital early March as her son (my nephew, who will be 5 in a couple of weeks) was having his tonsils removed. Shortly after the op and after having came round, he asked his mum for a bottle of milk. I mean, from a baby bottle. He is still having a bottle at night time, and this is a thing that has been born more out of habit than anything else. To be honest, I was astonished. He also drinks juice out of a bottle during the day. He can drink fine from a normal cup, so there's really no reason for him to drink (that I can see, anyway) from a baby bottle. My son is 5 months younger and has finished with his bottles when he was 2.He comes to my house and has no bother drinking from an age appropriate cup. I think this is something that can be easily overcome, as I am thinking of the health benefits of this - ie. his teeth and speech first and foremost. My sister seems to be giving in too easily, and thinks that I am the 'strict' mum. To be honest he is only out of nappies (at night time) since a short while ago. In front of a nurse at the hospital my sister...
Washing baby bottle nipples
This isn't a "helpful hint" but instead, this is, an "how I do it."I hate washing dishes, and I don't have a dishwasher. Well, I say I hate washing dishes, but plates, cups, glasses, things like that don't bother me. Even the pots and pans are OK as long as the food isn't stuck on. What I do hate washing is silver ware, baby bottles, baby nipples and rings. I have found an easy solution to my problem with nipples and rings...don't laugh...at least not too hard...I put them in the washing machine! I'm not even going to ask if anyone else does this, but tell me, at least, what you think about it.
Microwaving a new born baby's bottle
Do you think this practice is good. It doesn't take no time to heat water in a pot to heat the bottle rather than micro wave it. I do not think if I had a new born baby I would use the micro wave to heat the bottle. I visited a friend the other day, her daughter just had a baby and was using the micro wave to heat the bottle. I thought that was being rather lazy, because personally I would have heated it in a pot. Do you think it is a good idea to use the micro wave to heat a new born baby's bottle?
My silly FULL GROWN male cat is drinking out of a baby bottle....
Yes, folks, it's true....those of you that know me have heard of GIRRR and his explots, and his bouts with urinary problems. We finally got them a water fountain in hopes of increasing his water consumption. One of my fellow mylotter suggested it and I did give it a try! THANKS However, I got the weird idea of getting him a baby bottle after his many attempts to nurse on my finger, well the goofball took to it so naturally, it was funny as can be! I can see he's getting some measurable amount of water, and it is as entertaining as hell to watch a full grown male cat nurse on his bottle. LOL My husband laughs at it! We all get a kick out of GIRRR! He's a nut...here's a pic of my ornery lil thing.
The best baby bottle that prevent colics.
I use and only strictly use "Playtex vent aire" for feeding my child. My baby has probably suffer from colics, maybe once or twice a month. I really recommend this type of bottles.Plus he liked from the beginning. What bottles do you use for your baby? Did you had to change to a different bottle beacuse the baby cry whenever you fed him?
What is in that baby's bottle?
OK don't get me wrong I am by far the perfect parent. But please tell me why on earth some parents put soda in the child's bottle? I was on a city bus today a saw a little girl that was probably 3 or 4 years old. And I watched her mother or whoever it was with her open a bottle of coke and pour it in the little girls bottle and hand it back to her. OK not only was she to old to drink a bottle but why give her soda in the bottle? Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks this is wrong. foremost. My sister seems to be giving in too easily, and thinks that I am the 'strict' mum. To be honest he is only out of nappies (at night time) since a short while ago. In front of a nurse at the hospital my sister remarked that she had planned taking the bottle away before Christmas, but with news of her son needing this operation she decided not to, as this would only 'cause more upset'. To my surprise the nurse was on her side, and seemed to think that 'cos he's the baby of the family', it is ok to let him have his bottle. I don't think this is a cutural thing as I am sure there are plenty other Irish mums who share my opinion. But, what do you...
Grandma gives baby bottle after it falls on the floor....At the Hospital...
I was getting blood work done this morning and there was a woman (grandma) looking after her 2 grandsons. The oldest was about 1 1/2 years..He was sitting in his stroller and she handed him his bottle...he threw it on the floor..She picked it up, gave it back and the baby put it in his mouth...This went on for about 10 minutes...And every time he threw it, the nipple would hit the floor...This was driving me batty.....I was like you've got to be kidding me lady...The floor anywhere is dirty but the floor in the hospital is a feeding ground for germs...She looked at me and put the bottle up on the infant's stroller and that was that...I could not believe that she would give it back after it had been on the floor the first time.....Some people are just so stupid....I seriously doubt that she would put something off the floor into her mouth.....or would she?
What baby bottle did you use?
My son uses Avent ones right now. But I didn't save many so I am deciding if I want to use those again for the new baby or try something else. I kind of like the playtex with the drop in liners, but I don't know. I worry about running out of liners in the middle of the night or something, haha. What bottles did you or do you use with your little ones?
Baby bottle
According to some doctors today, mothers are supposed to take the bottle away starting at one year old. This really rubs me the wrong way. I think it is to soon, so what is your opinion.
how do i get my son to give up his bottle???
hi all- i need advice. my son is a little over a year, and he will not give up his bottle. i think it is mainly a comfort thing for him now, but it is something that needs to be taken care of soon. i never had this problem with my first- he just gave it up no problem! someone told me the other day to start putting it in a sippy cup and add a little milk, and every day put in less formula and more milk until he is off the formula. well, i gave him the sippy cup this morning instead of his bottle and he took a sip and then just gave me this funny look, smiled and threw it on the floor.:( he is too smart for his own good. now what? i obviously can't trick the kid... anyone have any advice for me?
